Joan Sorolla va néixer a Terrassa (Vallès Occidental). Va cursar el Grau en Magisteri a l'UAB, la Llicenciatura en Història de l’Art per la UB i el Màster en Disseny i Desenvolupament de Sistemes Interactius Multimèdia per la UPC.
Va començar a treballar professionalment a la fotografia a la revista “POPULAR 1″, com a reporter gràfic en l’àmbit dels concerts de rock i de retrats en entrevistes a músics entre 1980-82. D’aquesta època són també les col·laboracions esporàdiques a “Sal Común” “Rock de Lux” i “Interviú”. Després d'aquest primer període centra , posteriorment, la seva tasca professional en la docència de la Història de l’Art sense abandonar l’àmbit fotogràfic, ja des d'un vessant totalment amateur.
A partir de 2010, reemprèn el seu treball fotogràfic més intensament, cosa que inclou la realització d'exposicions i l'autoedició de llibres de foto i text.

Joan Sorolla was born in Terrassa (Catalonia). He studied a Teaching Degree at the UAB, a Bachelor's Degree in Art History at the UB and a Master's Degree in Design and Development of Interactive Multimedia Systems at the UPC.
He started working professionally in photography in the magazine "POPULAR 1″, as a photojournalist in the field of rock concerts and portraits in interviews to musicians between 1980-82. From this period there were also sporadic collaborations in "Sal Común", "Rock de Lux" and “Interviú" magazines. After this first period, he later focused his professional work on teaching Art History, without abandoning photography, now from a totally amateur perspective.
Since 2010, he has resumed his photographic work more intensely, which has included holding exhibitions and self-publishing photo-text books.
